Haha, no. The juxtaposition of water (it's a WAVE, if it were a waterfall it'd be upside-down) and fire is a classic way of illustrating opposites--which Neve and Martin are in temperament. They have, however, been friends since birth.
Hold your horses! All will be revealed/explained in good time. You can't just infodump people all at once.
